Adding family members in TidTil and assigning events to them

Children belong in the family calendar – even without a phone

The doctor’s appointment, gymnastics on Wednesday, the parents’ evening: most family events concern children who don’t have a smartphone yet. Many shared calendars still assume every family member brings their own device and their own login.

With TidTil that isn’t necessary. Children without their own iPhone can be added as family members, so events can be clearly assigned to them.

Add them once, then simply assign

You add the child once by name. After that you assign events to them just like to any other family member.

Creating an event therefore answers the question family life actually revolves around: who is this event for? That makes it obvious at a glance whom Wednesday afternoon concerns and who needs to drive whom.

No device, no account, no second subscription

Your child needs neither an iPhone of their own nor a separate login: TidTil has no account of its own and no extra password – for anyone in the family. For its cloud features the app uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit infrastructure.

The price stays a single subscription too: family sharing costs €1.99 per month or €19.99 per year, and one subscription covers your entire family. Not every member needs their own.

Private still stays private

Children appearing in the calendar doesn’t mean everything is visible to everyone. When creating an event you decide, for each individual event, whether it stays private or is visible to the family. Private events are stored separately from family events.

Why that’s a principle rather than an add-on for TidTil is explained on Family Calendar Without Ads or an Account.

Reminders for what’s coming up

You can set an individual reminder for every event. On top of that you can optionally switch on a morning daily overview that compactly shows what’s happening today – handy when several children have several events.

For families who want it simple

If what you mainly want is to know who has which event when – without task lists, chats and a whole organisation system – that’s exactly what TidTil is built for.
